You refer to a ‘blood tank’, is it the same for blood dps, for levelling?

Just remove obliterate because you won't actually have the runes to use it, and a blood DK shouldn't even have oblit on their action bar, lastly it removes diseases (and therefore ticks). With it removed you'll find that rotation a lot easier.

With the epidemic talent (which I'd get earlier than Jame suggested), you then have diseases lasting through both halves of the rotation, so can replace IT PS with another DS or two HS.

We’re a bit unclear on the optimal rotation/ability priority for leveling blood.
Does this look about right?

“DPS Rotation used
1. Icy Touch –> Plague Strike –> Death Strike –> Heart Strike –> Heart Strike –> Death Coil –> Obliterate
2. Icy Touch –> Plague Strike –> Heart Strike –> Heart Strike –> Heart Strike –> Heart Strike –> Death Coil –> Obliterate –> Death Coil
3. Repeat Step 2. until mob dies
Death Strike is used instead of Obliterate whenever you need healing to stay above 75% HP because of Blood Gorged.
Note: The rotation changes at level 67 once you get Epidemic.”

Great and timely advice, thanks. It’s helping my son who is leveling his DK, is now 62 and having a great time. Was also tempted to buy him the 2H heirloom weapon until I found out it couldn’t be runeforged, so will help him with the Ring of Blood when the time comes instead. Thanks again!

RE: the heirloom weapons. They’re the last thing I’d buy for my leveling DK. If you already have one (say, you go it for a warrior or pally), you can put berserking on it, and it’s not THAT bad of a dps loss compared to crusader. It’s probably better than most weaps you can get that are blues, even when they have crusader on them.

The two ‘ring of blood weaps’ are probably better for a few levels when available, and the UK regular blue two-hander is pretty good if you can get it at 68 as well. Once you’re in Drak’Theron Keep, there’s a nice 2H sword. Other than that – or spending silly amounts of cash on a boe epic (one DK buddy bought the lvl70 Doomwalker axe for his DK), then the heirloom weap may be worth it.
