Stopping playing, site unchanged though

I'm going to stop playing WoW.
I've just not passionate about it anymore. Playing since launch, six years. Had a blog for about it for nearly two years, and these awesome forums for the last year. Theorycraft for WoW isn't drawing my attention the way it used to.

Of all things, I feel most proud to have contributed to many people's enjoyment of tanking and to have in some cases brought new tanks into our community.

I will not write a long memoir. In the case of pwnwear, this site is now a community that's much broader than just me.

The site will remain, I will keep it spam-free, maintained and hosted. I'll recruit new moderators if ever required, and so on. I haven't worked out what to do with the blog front-page yet. I might try making it a mini-portal into the forums. I'm open to ideas on that.

I don't think anyone is up to blogging the front page. My personal experience with many volunteer bloggers is they just don't keep on writing, so I'd have to be really convinced by anyone who offered themselves.

So, to my fellow tanks,
stand firm.

Best of luck Grav, you've been a HUGE asset to the Death Knight community! I've been proud to send DK's on our server over to this site and have them go "wow! I never knew!" You've done a fantastic job.

I have felt the same about WoW theorycrafting of late, and have started http://sithwarrior.com as my hobby project, so if you are wondering who that "sithwarrior" is following you on twitter it's me. :P

You've been a great host and seed for this community. I appreciate the hard work you've put in, and was very flattered all that time ago when you pinged me for that interview.
Thank you.

I worked out an neat way to turn the front page into a forum portal. Pretty easy actually. To demonstrate, I stuck the five most recent replies in the main column on front page. I could have a the five most recent posts for every forum section, displayed in a kind of grid. It'd look neat, I think.

As to what I'm doing with my free time: learning Judo (decided on that instead of pistol or rifle shooting) to get fit and strong, reading books on my Kindle, wife's due with mini #3 in August so some more parenting action, focusing on my career and trying to get a proper leadership job, and will play Guild Wars 2 when it's released or maybe SWTOR if my current (ie. former) guild switch to it.

Congratz on #3! I just recently had #1...killed my WoW time to almost 20% of what it was...Guild Wars 2 sounds awesome and of course SWTOR is looking badass. I realy like how so much of the game is story driven, seems like less pressure to raid. Maybe I'm just getting old!

Forget Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the way forward!

I'm not doing Judo so I can beat people up in grappling or mixed martial arts fights :) It's for strength, fitness, discipline and competition.
BJJ doesn't have the standing throws I enjoy, either.

I'd have liked to Kendo ('sword' fighting with bamboo sticks, in armour) but there's no nearby clubs. It's great fun, and exhausting.

Thanks for the great work you put in Gravity.

Due to a holiday and my 10 man group falling apart I've mostly stopped playing WoW too, although I did log in yesterday. I'll still lurk around here because theorycrafting DKs still interests me.

Awww, just as I return too. I know where you're coming from though, I usually do 6 months per stint, 6 yrs must be quite taxing. Thanks for the site and the work done to build such a good resource for the DK tank community, GL.

What's cool is that unlike deathknight.info, which died because there was no admin love, this site has no reason to decline. I'll be around keeping it neat and tidy.

I'll update EJ OP for 4.1 (since that's so easy, we've had fuck-all changes) then tell EJ I'm off. They can decide what to do.
Usually the OP doesn't need much maintenance between say 4.1 and 4.2, so there's plenty of time for a new maintainer. It might be my sticky remains for quite some time.
