What this list provides:

• A compilation of tank gear relevant to end game tanking based on iLevel of the gear.
• Some lower items may be omitted as the purpose of this is current raid gear. Feel free to discuss items included or not included for relevance to DK tanking.

What this list is not:

• A gear ranking system that attempts to provide best in slot. Best in Slot is subjective to each individual based on one's own stat deficiencies. That said, we do have a BiS thread here.

Notes:

• Some of the headings are links to filtered Wowhead searches that can help identify other possible items of interest in recent patches. The lists includes items 251+ that are from patch 3.3 and on. You can change it at Wowhead if you want to look at other items.
• Please send any corrections or missing items as a private message since it will help keep this thread cleaner.
• Most of the items from Ulduar and Naxxramas have been archived into a second post. These items are not as relevant. This list will focus on current gear applicable to a newer tank through to progressions tanks.

I'm curious as to where Nighttime rates in the one handed tanking weapon list. When I first considered running a DW DK Tank this was the weapon I was pointed to without question.

Remember that this list doesn't rank items but just provides you with a list of relevant items. It is supposed to be in order of item level although the weapons may incorrectly ordered.

It looks Nighttime was missed. I'll add it in. Nighttime is a good starter weapon for DW Frost. It's nice and slow for threat. It has a nice amount of agility on it. Like the other 232 1H weapons it will be a little lower on stamina but that's typical for slow 1H weapons.

Something I noticed about your list I was curious about, I saw under 1hers you have the Quel'delar quest line items, but the 2h Quel'delar variant is missing from the 2h weapon list. Wasn't sure if this was by choice or not? http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50048

That's probably subjective and the Armsman enchant does include some avoidance too. I can add that though. The LW armor kits are missing.

for sure it's subjective but tanks in progression guilds will use it because HP wins fights. I was using Armsman till the IT buff because DK-Thread was horrible no we have that snap aggro and when you have to choose between HP and avoid you will always choose HP regardless of losing some ilvl points
