TankPoints and TankTotals

In case you haven’t checked, the new TankPoints is out a few days ago. It works correctly with 3.2 mechanics, but you have to edit the TOC file (to 30200) since he forgot to do that. It’s safe to edit the TOC file, and will make it load without having to enable ‘out of date addons’ in-game.

TankPoints is correctly calculating avoidance, but I do not think it fixed the Frigid Dreadplate bug I found (so DKs should add

Warrior 3.2 tank spec, and no more badge gear

I presume any tank reader on my site knows Veneretio well, he’s posted the warrior tanks specs he’s running.

Last night, I got my last tanking badge-reward upgrade from Conquest. Kind of wierd feeling.

I’m at 33.7K HP unbuffed and 55% avoidance without the Black Heart trinket, which I’m deliberating getting to replace my Ignis dodge trinket. Not like a casual raider like me needs more HP. What to do

3.2 woohoo fun

I bet we all had a great day today. I got on for just a few hours.

Respec’d into Unholy tank, not sure how to do my PvP spec yet. Mailed off gems for transmuting, prospected some titanium, got one epic gem, ran HoS heroic daily. Bought several tanking epic recipes. Wrote guild post so no-one else doubles-up on them.

Used those emblems to get new i226 belt, fixed a buckle, will put epic gem in it tomorrow when transmutes come back. Put Deadly Ametrine on the AH, see if it sells.

3.2 live soon?

Patches are getting smaller, bosses have mostly had two rounds of testing on PTR and unusually there’s another test on EU advance warning.

I’m largely away over this week with my kids (school holidays in the UK), so won’t have as many posts as usual. Happy raiding!

Spec bias

I wonder if the new no-trash bosses and encounter design in the Coliseum will give a bias to any particular tank class or sub-spec.

Personally if I don’t have to worry about spawns or AOE, then I’d spec a blood DK. I know we won’t have trash in there, at least.

Dodge 3.2

If fellow tanks haven’t seen this TankSpot article on the 3.2 avoidance changes yet, it includes the new ratio for optimal avoidance and is worth a look. Has some impressive maths in it too .

I tried to summarise in a thread at tankspot and have retyped it below.

What to do in 3.2

The tldr version is this:

Emblem changes: explained

Currently in 3.1

  • Ulduar 25 gives Conquest Emblem
  • Naxx 25 and Ulduar 10 gives Valor Emblem
  • Naxx 10 and 5-man heroics give Heroism Emblem

Change in 3.2

  • Naxx 25 & 10, and Heroic 5-mans will give Conquest Emblem

Significance:  (1) by doing 5-mans and low-tier raids, in 3.2 you will be able to buy badge-gear that previously only Ulduar-25 man raiders could access, (2) and get them very fast by

More raiding nights?

Blizzard news about the next tier of raiding content, with five bosses, coming in 3.2 includes an important change.

There will be four different versions: 10-player, 25-player, 10-player Heroic, and 25-player Heroic, with each one using a separate lockout.

Significance to raid leaders:

  • you can schedule a 25-man loot raid, get saved to a raid ID
  • and also schedule a 25-man heroic raid, in a separate ID
  • plus a 10-man heroic for boss-encounter practice and loot.
