Unless you have rolled a L1 alt recently, you won’t realise how much Blizzard have improved the experience for new players. People completely new to WoW will really find their introduction much smoother. You’d have seen patch note changes such as mana regen for low levels is far higher (I never went oom on my L1 through 5 warlock). I didn’t realise but they have also made the mobs neutral in the starting zone, which makes the cave-troll quest

It’s pretty mortifying to type /played.
If you want, log on your alts and check them too, or better yet: get the Altoholic addon which does it for you (amongst other more important features, like searchable banks and gold, all alts’ talents and such).
Because I played on EU realms for two years, I’m missing a lot of hours on my Altoholic summary. I can’t log onto those characters to add their time, and to be frank I have

I am most pleased that Cataclysm might clean out some loser DKs alts who clog up PUG raids, gearing themselves up, playing badly and giving us a bad name.
Since there’s a gear reset and with new races and a much rejuvenated L1 to 58 levelling process, we should see the old classes getting some love again. That should leave some DK alts on the bench.

I decided to level enchanting and mining on my new DK. Enchanting is expensive to level up.
From 1 to 300, it has cost 720g so far. Some of the enchants I put on vellums and will now see if they sell. Sold Greater stam on boots 11.5g each.
300 to 350 cost about 800g. Arcane Dust looks like something worth reselling for profit. I stopped counting the costs from 350 onward, but it’s fair to say this is a very expensive profession to level up.
Not long after I’d got to 375 or so, MMO-Champion released the enchanting guide.

I just hit 80 on my re-roll DK, Industry. I enjoyed it as much as levelling my first DK, Gravity. Such a great class.
Saw quite a few quests I hadn’t ever done before, which I really enjoyed. Hadn’t levelled to 80 on a Horde before, so there were new camps and questlines I’d never seen.
Spec’d into a 5-man heroic blood spec and a DW frost dps spec. Have bought myself a few epics (tank ring, bracers and

Found some great addons too, but first a snippet on levelling:
I ran the no-epidemic unholy dps specs in the simulator for L68, to see how it scales at low gear levels. Result is it checks out at the same dps as traditional. I updated my Death Knight levelling specs page with builds.
Having just got my new DK to L75 in blood, I’m going to try unholy for some variety and to get a feel for this short

One of my favourite things about World of Warcraft. One of the reasons I came back to WoW for it, after a brief hiatus in Eve (wrote a guide, needs a maintainer btw). Something that makes me smile while doing old content. Two things actually.
(1) Blizzard’s 3D model movements, graphic design quality, attention to detail and creativity, and (2) their sense of humour.
The Marmot quest was one example, I mentioned in the opener on levelling spec post, but the other day this really made me grin. You get to wear a costume.
Look at the design detail and thought put into this element of the game which occupies just a tiny corner of the world, and earns you 20K exp, and is then over. You do keep a smile and the memory of it, but yet what a lot of effort Blizzard put into such a passing thing.
Apparently, it was originally a Blizzcon goodie, so sure, the investment of 3D time was for a greater purpose than this quest, but they used it nevertheless and makes this quest really shine.
It truly is a great example of one reason I enjoy WoW. Have a close look. They have even a custom animation for its movement, including the eye boggling about.

This is poor UI design and on-screen instruction. The Blizzard quest tracker says “you don’t have space to track any more objectives”, that’s OK but then it’s proposed solution is retarded, “stop tracking some first”.
What it should say is “make the tracking box bigger, so you get more space”.
So all you have to do is drag the tracking window’s frame down to make it as big as possible.
Pictures here speak louder than words.
This post won’t

Verified for 3.22 plus commentary on no-epidemic unholy.
What are the specs and talent options for levelling up a Death Knight? Fortunately, they’re all good. Here are some templates to help you decide between unholy, frost and blood levelling specs.
I have had the (un)fortunate pleasure of levelling two DKs. As of writing, I’m L68. My previous main Gravity tanked Ulduar 25 in England but because of a move back to Australia, I decided to reroll. (You can’t transfer EU to Oceanic servers).
You can get to L68 in about 1 day and 12 hours played (I did) by using a flying mount at L60 (costs 620g with no faction discount).
I’ve included L68 and L79 versions of the specs so you can see how you build out the spec as you go. I even did some dps sims.

A good quest for tankspot readers
The specs
First a few explanatory notes.
